British Army
The British Army fought all around the world throughout the Second World War. Armed with characteristic equipment such as the Bren Gun, the PIAT, the Bren Carrier, Churchills and Cromwell tanks - and with the protection of the Brodie Helmet, the Tommies were a force to be reckoned with!
Known as the ‘British Expeditionary Force’ (or ‘B.E.F’ for short) through the Early War (1939-1940) period, they recovered from the evacuation at Dunkirk to fight in North Africa, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and Asia. Alongside their allies the Brits started to gain the upper hand - starting with victories in Africa and Italy - and then with D-Day in 1944 they returned to France, driving the German Army back through mainland Europe to Germany. In the Far East, they fought the Japanese - pushing them back from the Indian border into eastern Burma.
