In 1809, at the battle of Wagram, some Polish light horse fighting for Napoleon seized lances from Austrian Uhlan prisoners and used them with good effect. Impressed by their use, Bonaparte ordered nine regiments to be formed, six of them clothed in green and three in blue. With their nine-foot ash pole lances, red and white pennants, and topped off with gleaming brass classical helmets they cut quite a dash on the battlefield.
Lancers were unusual as they could take their place in the battleline and fight it out with enemy cavalry or infantry, but they were most often used in scouting, raiding, and – especially in Spain and Russia – in skirmishing, even fighting dismounted where the situation arose.
Armed with a wicked lance, sabre, and at times a carbine and up to two pistols, the French line lancer was a formidable foe!

Although a standard unit size for French Lancers would be 12 in most games, this box allows you to make 13 mounted French Lancers, giving you the choice of fielding them with or without command models.

I was surprise by the quality of this product. Very well cast with many details. This product is almost compatible with the other company starting with G and ending with workshop. I use those to convert some death Krieg riders. The lancers require some conversion skills since they are smaller the usual model from the other company.
1- Cut the lower part of the 40k face.
2- Cut the neck of the lancers.
3- Glue them together.
4- Glue lasgun on their backs
And you have 13 great riders for 45$ instead of 400$
The lances are very very very fragile. I broke two while I was cleaning them. 5 stars if the lances where in metal.
I picked up a box of these a while ago to use as a kind of rough-riding mounted cavalry in a certain gothic sci-fi wargame, and I was blown away by the quality of these models. The sculpts are excellent and well-proportioned, easy to assemble, suitably detailed and surprisingly robust - my past experiences of horse miniatures are a minefield of broken tails, but since these have their tails sculpted on, there's no such problem.
The generous box size of 12 plastic models and a metal officer means I had a surplus of miniatures, so the spares have gone to one side for use as a command unit in future. My only slight quarrel with the models is that their lances, being plastic, are rather fragile - I would gladly pay a little extra to have a set of metal lances included in the box, for extra durability.
Despite that minor quarrel, these are excellent models and I definitely plan to get more in future.
